Hajiya Mairo Tanko Al-Makura is the beautiful second wife of Governor Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa state. Her beauty transcends beyond the surface as she reaches out to the needy in her state through her pet project, Tallafi Foundation. According to her, the Tallafi Foundation was founded with the aim to assist and support all disadvantaged persons in the society. Looking back at the nearly four years that her husband has spent in the Lafia Government House, Hajiya Mairo is full of gratitude to the Almighty God for the rare privilege to positively touch lives and put smiles on the faces of the people around her. She believes that with the help of contributions from well meaning Nigerians, the society will be a better place for all.
Although mostly unsung in her home state and beyond, the Tallafi founder is basically working round the clock to empower the people of Nasarawa state. Hajiya Mario Tanko Al-makura is an Amazon with a heart of gold who stands all for selfless service and unity. She has on various fora, called on Nasarawa State women living outside the state to unite and always partner with each other for the benefit of their home state.
Mario Almakura made this call recently when she hosted a delegation of women from Nasarawa state who lived in Abuja. She reminded them that it was only through constant interaction they would know and assist each other in times of need. She stressed that occasional meetings were not enough.
Her concern for the health and well being of Nasarawa people caused Tallafi Foundation to conduct free eye treatments in partnership with the Eye Center for Blindness and Prevention and Desert Center at Karu, Nasarawa state. The four day eye treatment and examination benefited over 50 persons. The beneficiaries who were tested and treated got the best service possible, all for free. This helped to restore full vision for many persons, many of whom had given up on the possibility of ever recovering their sight. The eye treatment exercise was done under the personal supervision of Hajiya Mairo Al-Makura.
In another development, Hajiya Mairo Almakura also donated baby items, household items and a huge cash donation on behalf of Tallafi Foundation to Mr. and Mrs. Akaba David Dayi who gave birth to a set of quadruplets at the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital in Lafia. While delivering the items to the family, Mairo Almakura said the items we presented out of concern for the lucky family, by way of support. While praying for God to grant mother and children good health, Hajiya Mairo used the occasion to encourage people to assist the less privileged.
In recognition of her selfless contributions to society, the founder of Tallafi Foundation, Hajiya Mairo Tanko Al-makura recently bagged the West African Distinguished Achievers Award in Accra, Ghana.
